The late Mayor Demetrio L. Alviola, Sr. founded the Demetrio L. Alviola National High School in the year 1968. The major objective in establishing the school is to give the secondary education to the young people on this Municipality, especially the children of the low-income family.
In its first year of operation, there were one hundred thirty (130) boys and one hundred forty-four (144) girls, or two hundred seventy-four (274) students officially enrolled in the school.
After several years of its existence, the name of the school was changed from Tinaogan Barangay High School (1968) to Bindoy Municipal High School (1974), then to Demetrio L. Alviola Municipal High School (1976), and finally to Demetrio L. Alviola National High School (1994) in honors of the founder the late Municipal Mayor Demetrio L. Alviola, Sr.
The school site of Demetrio L. Alviola National High School was own by Municipality of Bindoy since its opening in 1968. It was bought by the municipal government for the establishment of a Barangay High School in Barangay Tinaogan to cater the education of the local residents. It was in 1994 that the Demetrio L. Through SB Resolution No. 88-89, the municipal government of Bindoy finally donated the lot in favor of the Department of Education, Culture and Sports (DECS) authorizing the Hon. At present, there are nine hundred fifty-one boys (951) and one thousand (1,000) girls or a total of one thousand, nine hundred fifty-one (1,951) students officially enrolled in the school. To cater these number of students, the school has forty-six (46) strong teachers, three (3) Teacher Aides, one (1) Guidance Counselor, two (2) administrative staff, three (3) support staff and managed by a Principal II who was installed into office in October 2010, or a total of fifty-six (56) teaching and non- teaching personnel.
Despite of the tremendous challenges at hand, the school has continually gaining its momentum of growth as it caters to the total development of its constituents, the students.
